Mesic's statement that former Yugoslav secret service Udba did not
call Slobodan Budak on information talks because Budak was Udba's
agent, should be publicly condemned, Budisa stressed.
Also present at the conference was Slobodan Budak, who runs an
attorney office today. Saying that Stipe Mesic is "shamelessly
laying", Budak stressed that between 1945 and 1955 he worked for the
intelligence service of the former Yugoslav Army (OZNA), however,
not as an agent.
After I left OZNA, I no longer had any contacts with secret
services, apart from the time when my apartment was searched
against all regulations in 1971 after I resigned to the duty of
state attorney, Budak said.
Why hasn't Mesic said anything to me during our 30-year-long
cooperation and friendship", Budak wondered, and invited Mesic on a
public debate on the issue.
Budisa stressed that him and his party, as well as their coalition
partners, have not got anything to do with the publishing of
newspaper articles in which Mesic was accused of cooperation with
Yugoslav secret services. In his opinion, the misuse of secret
service must be stopped, in order to stop the selective publishing
of secret documents due to conflicts among parties.
Budisa presented reporters with the list of 49 names of Croatia's
from the United States and Canada who supported his presidential
campaign with DM106,248. He said he would announce the names of
other donors after receiving their consent.
