ZAGREB, Jan 25 (Hina) - The presidential candidate of the coalition of the Social Democratic Party and the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), Drazen Budisa congratulated Stipe Mesic on the victory of the first round of the presidential election in Croatia. After the Monday midnight, when first preliminary results of the voting were made public, Budisa announced the strong competition and his victory of the run-off ballot, scheduled on 7 February. "First preliminary results are within our predictions. Our forecasts regarded it as success if I muster about 30 percent of the vote and Mesic 40 percent," Budisa added. He described preliminary results which show that Mesic won 41 percent while the SDP/HSLS candidate 28 percent as "real results."
