ZAGREB, Jan 21 (Hina) - The presidential campaign was not so rough as had been expected and had mostly been carried out within the limits of the allowed, spokesman for the Voice 200 non-government coalition, Vladimir Primorac, told
Friday's news conference. Commenting on the allegations of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) that the amount of funds for the electoral campaign of Stipe Mesic (a four parties' candidate) was more than announced, Primorac said donations to presidential candidates are legitimate, except for those that are not in line with the law. The fact that certain candidates are spending more money than had been announced does not mean that the funds are not of legitimate origin, Primorac said, stressing it was not suitable to state allegations without firm evidence. ZAGREB, Jan 21 (Hina) - The presidential campaign was not so rough
as had been expected and had mostly been carried out within the
limits of the allowed, spokesman for the Voice 200 non-government
coalition, Vladimir Primorac, told Friday's news conference.
Commenting on the allegations of the Social Democratic Party (SDP)
and Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) that the amount of funds
for the electoral campaign of Stipe Mesic (a four parties'
candidate) was more than announced, Primorac said donations to
presidential candidates are legitimate, except for those that are
not in line with the law.
The fact that certain candidates are spending more money than had
been announced does not mean that the funds are not of legitimate
origin, Primorac said, stressing it was not suitable to state
allegations without firm evidence.
Describing the conduct of presidential candidates during the
electoral campaign, Primorac said Zvonimir Separovic's conduct
towards reporters of the Open radio was unsuitable.
Friday's issuing of electoral posters of presidential candidate
Drazen Budisa and "Voice 200" at the same page of the Jutarnji list
daily left an impression of a "third message", that is, that Voice
2000 supported Budisa's candidacy, which is incorrect, Primorac
said.
He said they had not ordered the advert and it was probably a
mistake.
