ZAGREB, Jan 20 (Hina) - Croatian Sabor President and Acting Head of State Vlatko Pavletic on Thursday met a former Italian president Francesco Cossiga, who is on a two-day private visit to Croatia. "Cossiga proved his friendship on a
number of occasions and his decisions will be recorded in the history of the establishment of the Croatian state," Pavletic said after the meeting. Cossiga was the first foreign statesman to pay an official visit to Croatia after it was internationally recognised. The former Italian president said he was visiting Croatia not only because of political reasons but also because of his friendship with the late President Franjo Tudjman. Cossiga hoped that he would have equally friendly relations with the new political leadership elected at the January 3 parliamentary election.
