satisfied with the election result because it shows that Croatian citizens have realised that in the political, social and any other form of life in our country, one should try to make serious changes in relation to the existing situation," said the president of the PGS, which is a coalition partner of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) in the eighth constituency (Istria-Rijeka). Party (SDP) and the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) in the

Susanj said he was satisfied because the voters had supported the
victorious coalition as well as the second opposition coalition,
led by the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS), in such large
numbers.
The SDP-HSLS-PGS coalition won more than 40 per cent of the vote in
Istria-Rijeka County beating the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ),
which won 14 per cent of the vote. The other opposition coalition
(IDS, Croatian Peasants' Party - HSS, Liberal Party - LS, Croatian
People's Party - HNS, and the Action of Social Democrats of Croatia
- ASH) won 31 per cent of the vote.
