ZAGREB, Dec 28 (Hina) - The Social Democratic Party-Croatian Social
Liberal Party (SDP/HSLS) coalition on Tuesday supported the
systematic improvement of the quality of living and health.
Presenting their programme of environmental protection in Zagreb,
coalition officials said Croatia had to systematically develop the
awareness about the need to protect the environment.
Slavko Borac of the HSLS and Zdravko Vac of the SDP said if the
coalition won the election, it would respect all international
conventions on environmental protection.
The two officials warned that the environment in Croatia is
considerably damaged and burdened with different harmful
substances as well as that the problem of industrial waste has not
been resolved, that drinking water wells are jeopardised and that
failures have been made in the physical planning of roads and
industrial facilities, which are believed to have obsolete and
unclean technology.
The coalition believes that implementing its programme of
environmental protection will also enable the creation of new
jobs.
