ZAGREB, Dec 12 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the government's Office for Cooperation with the Hague-based international war crimes tribunal, Goran Granic, said on Wednesday the government was surprised with
the statement made by the tribunal prosecution's spokeswoman, Florence Hartmann, that the fact the Croatian authorities had not arrested indicted Croatian general Ante Gotovina could directly affect General Rahim Ademi's pre-trial release. "The government is surprised because it is in constant contact with the chief prosecutor, Carla del Ponte," said Granic's statement relayed by the government's public relations office to Hina. Stressing she did not know the final stance of the prosecution, Hartmann said that the Croatian authorities had not apprehended the second indictee, thus giving him the opportunity to flee the country. This gives us cause for concern, Hartmann added.(hina) l
