ZAGREB, Dec 4 (Hina) - The majority of party benches in the Croatian parliament supported a final bill on confirming the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union, emphasising that its implementing would lead to
Croatia's accelerated economic development. The Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS), the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Democratic Centre (DC) parties believe Croatia would benefit from the Agreement in terms of economy. At the same time, they stress that regional cooperation is necessary, and that the fear of any kind of a Balkan alliance was unfounded, because the Agreement does not contain any legal foundation for this. The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) left the session earlier in protest against the government sending an increasing number of bills into urgent parliamentary procedure.(hina) np sb
