SISAK, Nov 27 (Hina) - A member of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) and Sisak County Deputy Prefect, Velimir Kvesic, said on Tuesday his party believed the scheduled trial of the president of the HSP branch in Petrinja and Petrinja
deputy mayor, Gordana Dumbovic, indicted for her comments about Serbs during a recent pre-election campaign, was "the first rigged process in a free and independent Croatia." Kvesic told reporters in Sisak the trial, scheduled for December 13 at the Kutina Municipal Court, was based on "a rigged audio-recording with her alleged statements" and was "reintroducing the utterly unacceptable verbal offence." SISAK, Nov 27 (Hina) - A member of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP)
and Sisak County Deputy Prefect, Velimir Kvesic, said on Tuesday
his party believed the scheduled trial of the president of the HSP
branch in Petrinja and Petrinja deputy mayor, Gordana Dumbovic,
indicted for her comments about Serbs during a recent pre-election
campaign, was "the first rigged process in a free and independent
Croatia."
Kvesic told reporters in Sisak the trial, scheduled for December 13
at the Kutina Municipal Court, was based on "a rigged audio-
recording with her alleged statements" and was "reintroducing the
utterly unacceptable verbal offence."
"Gordana Dumbovic is being tried for being a Croat and a HSP member,
on the basis of a rigged audio-tape, while the police and the state
prosecution are failing to prosecute Chetniks who committed
horrendous crimes against Croats during the Homeland War and
President Stjepan Mesic is giving a pardon to a murderer," Kvesic
said.
The Municipal Prosecution in Petrinja on October 12 issued a draft
indictment against Gordana Dumbovic based on "founded suspicion
that she committed a criminal act of racial and other
discrimination." Dumbovic has been charged for her statements in a
local radio broadcast on May 18 this year during a campaign for a
local election. According to the State Prosecution, "with the
intention to denigrate members of the Serb national minority",
Dumbovic then said: "Our man is a martyr, our man is a believer, he
is his own man in his own country... the minority creature, the poor
Serb who has returned from his motherland Serbia is neither a human
nor an animal."
