MADRID, July 27 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic, who is participating in a summit of countries in transition in Madrid, said he would travel Israel on Sunday. He said on Saturday he expected his official visit to Israel to be
a step forward in the two countries' cooperation. Some Croatian media last week speculated about a possibility of a delay of the visit due to security reasons, regarding the newest escalation of violence in the Israel-Palestine conflict. The Croatian government and the Foreign Ministry have allegedly suggested to the President to postpone the visit, however, the information has not been confirmed by official sources. participating in a summit of countries in transition in Madrid,
said he would travel Israel on Sunday.
He said on Saturday he expected his official visit to Israel to be a
step forward in the two countries' cooperation.

Commenting on the promotion of the two countries' cooperation,
Mesic said numerous people of Croatian background who live in
Israel were interested in cooperation.
Croatian head of state expects his visit to Israel to encourage the
two countries economic cooperation, as well.
During his three day visit to Israel, which officially starts on
Monday, Mesic will meet his host and counterpart Moshe Katsav, and
deputy Prime Minister and foreign minister Shimon Peres. The
Croatian President will also hold talks with the mayor of
Jerusalem, Ehud Olmert and the director of the Simon Wiesenthal
Centre, Efraim Zuroff.
