ZAGREB, Oct 21 (Hina) - Last week's death of 21 patients during or after undergoing dialysis was caused exclusively "by the impotence of medical technology and not by human error," the president of the Croatian Doctors' Corps,
Dubravko Orlic, said in a statement on Sunday. "Not one doctor, nurse or other health staff committed an error in their work," Orlic emphasised. He said the establishment of the cause of death of the 21 kidney patients lasted only 24 hours, which "calls for acknowledging the health staff, state services and the Ministry of Health in particular." "They were able to point to the cause (of death) in record time, so that further tragic events were prevented after the series of (malfunctioning) dialysers were withdrawn from use," Orlic said in the statement.(hina) ha sb
