WASHINGTON, Oct 14 (Hina) - Representatives of the US Baxter company, one of the world's biggest manufactures of dialysis equipment, whose products are being linked to the tragic deaths of 23 dialysis patients in Croatian hospitals,
did not comment on a Croatian Health Ministry's decision to halt the delivery of their dialysis machines. The director of Croatian pharmaceutical company Pliva, Zeljko Covic, said in Zagreb on Sunday that Croatia had been importing Baxter's dialysis machines for the past 12 years. He did not say the dialysis machines at issue were "A-18", the same machines used in Spain and suspected of causing the death of 12 patients in August. On September 9, "Baxter" said in a statement the "A-18" dialysis machines had been tested in Germany's "TuV PS", authorised by the European Commission for the testing of standards of medical equipment.(hina) it sb
