ZAGREB, Oct 14 (Hina) - Prime Minister Ivica Racan said on Sunday that due to the death of 23 patients undergoing dialysis in Croatian hospitals, Health Care Minister Ana Stavljenic Rukavina made her mandate available. He, however,
stressed that at the moment it was more important to establish direct responsibility than absolute liability for the tragic event. Racan said an investigation into the deaths of the dialysis patients was being conducted. Apart from the Health Care Ministry, the investigation is also being conducted by the Interior Ministry, the State Prosecutor's Office and the Justice Ministry. Asked whether the government had information on similar cases which took place in Spain in August, when 12 dialysis patients died, Racan said he was informed of the cases, adding that "Pliva", the Croatian pharmaceutical company distributing the dialysis machines at issue, had received written guarantees fro
