ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) - The strongest opposition party - the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) - insists on the immediate and irrevocable resignation of Health Minister Ana Stavljenic-Rukavina over to the recent tragedy in Croatian
hospitals. HDZ President Ivo Sanader on Monday asked for an urgent investigation and the punishment of all the responsible for the death of kidney patients in several Croatian hospitals last week. At a news conference he held today, Sanader asserted that responsible persons in public health failed to react promptly and efficiently to prevent the death of the patients. He said this was not only the tragedy of the Croatian health system but an example of "manslaughter by negligence which calls for pressing charges against liable persons." He also pointed to the objective responsibility of the incumbent government for the overall situation in the Croatian society.(hina) sb ms
