HNS: CIVIL CROATIA WAS SLAPPED IN FACE IN PARLIAMENT FRIDAY

ZAGREB, Oct 13 (Hina) - A spokesman for the Croatian People's Party (HNS) has said that "civil Croatia was slapped in the face in parliament yesterday and neither the HNS nor its president Vesna Pusic will allow civil Croatia to turn the other cheek." Spokesman Boris Blazekovic made the statement commenting on the Croatian Christian Democratic Union's (HKDU) president Anto Kovacevic's remark that Pusic was "made for bed and not to use her head". A terrible insult was hurled at the Croat people yesterday, the most terrible thing that ever happened in parliament since Croatia gained independence, Blazevic told reporters. The HNS demands that Mato Arlovic (Social Democratic Party), who chaired the session, no longer chair parliamentary sessions because he reprimanded both Kovacevic and Pusic after the incident. The party also demands that Kovacevic resign as an MP. Blazekovic was particularly dissatisfied with Croatian Television's report about the incident. "Such foul language and communication cannot be only reported about, it must be condemned," he said. Yesterday's parliamentary session was discontinued for some 30 minutes after Kovacevic made the sexist remark about Pusic during a debate on stripping Croatian Party of Rights' (HSP) Anto Djapic of immunity due to suspicion that he copied his master's thesis. Kovacevic asserted only one percent of all theses were originals and the rest were copies, which Pusic objected to. (hina) rml
