ZAGREB, Sept 28 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Friday passed by a majority vote a law on the office for fighting corruption and organised crime (USKOK) and ended its first autumn session with voting on several bills and voting
confidence in new justice and European integration ministers. The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) parliamentary bench said it was necessary to pass the law on USKOK. In their opinion, Croatia is fulfilling its international commitments in preventing organised crime by adopting the law. Considering, however, that HDZ amendments were not adopted, Vladimir Seks said the party decided to abstain from voting. The parliament also adopted a law on the government's competence under which it would be able to regulate certain issues from the parliament's scope of activities.
