CROATIAN PARLIAMENT ENDORSES NUMEROUS AMENDMENTS

ZAGREB, Oct 12 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Friday morning continued its 17th session by voting on several previously discussed bills. Despite the government's negative opinion, MPs endorsed amendments to a law on catering, under which the State Inspectorate is authorised to close a catering unit opened past working hours on the spot. The parliament dismissed an amendment submitted by the Tourism Board requesting that a catering unit caught opened past working hours be closed for eight instead of the endorsed 30 days. The parliament endorsed the amendments to a customs law, under which 100 percent disabled persons and persons with 80 percent disability in the lower part of the body would have the right to import personal vehicles without customs duties. With a majority vote, the parliament dismissed a bill on amendments to a law on income tax, submitted by the strongest opposition party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), proposing the cancellation of taxes on pensions paid to families of killed, missing and detained Croatian Homeland War soldiers.
