ZAGREB, Oct 1 (Hina) - The priority tasks in restoring confidence in the judiciary are changes to the laws on civil and criminal lawsuits and the establishment of an office for war crimes, the new minister of justice, administration
and local self-government, Ingrid Anticevic-Marinovic, said on Monday. Talking to reporters upon taking over the new post, the minister said the laws on civil and criminal lawsuits must be adopted and the war crimes office set up by year's end. This would expedite court proceedings and make the courts and the State Prosecutor's Office more efficient. Speaking about the impending appointment of court presidents, Anticevic-Marinovic said she would respect the panels of judges' opinions about the candidates, with the exception of a positive opinion being given about presidents of back-logged and inorderly courts.
