tractors and farm wagons from two entrances to the MIA dairy plant
around 11 a.m. on Monday after the management of the Osijek-based
company and the Osijek-Baranja County Dairymen Association agreed
the purchase price of milk would be 2.5 kuna per litre.
Negotiators pointed out they were not entirely satisfied with the
agreement, considering it a transitional solution.
The Dairymen Association's secretary, Drago Lovric, said the two
sides agreed an Association commission could supervise milk
quality at MIA, and that today's agreement referred to a three-
month transitional period during which the state should set the
protected price of milk.
MIA chairman of the board Ante Repusic said he understood the
dairymen's difficulties but described their demands as excessive.
The manufacturers demanded a higher purchase price for milk and the
settlement of a debt which resulted from non-compliance with a July
agreement on a 30 percent increase in the purchase price.
