PULA, Sept 21 (Hina) - Istria County Assembly President Stevo Zufic on Friday expressed satisfaction with a compromise reached during talks with Justice Minister Stjepan Ivanisevic about contentious provisions of the County Statute.
We have agreed that the moot provisions, which Ivanisevic himself suspended and whose constitutionality and legitimacy the government challenged before the Constitutional Court, be redefined and made more specific in line with the Constitution and legal provisions, Zufic stressed. He added that Istria County representatives had insisted during the talks that the crux of the County Statute not change, and they would make certain formulations regulating the issue of bilingualism and expressions of regional identity more precise, and harmonise them with legal provisions. The Justice Ministry suspended ten provisions of the Istria County Statute which was adopted by the County Assembly on April 9.
