ZAGREB, Sept 21 (Hina) - Croatia's parliament on Friday continued a session with a discussion on a draft health insurance act. Presenting the bill, Health Minister Ana Stavljenic Rukavina said it would ensure more efficient management
and better control over the use of means from health insurance funds. Under the new act, there will be compulsory, i.e. basic insurance, and voluntary, i.e. additional insurance. The bill envisages that the Croatian Institute for Health Insurance, as one fund, will conduct the mandatory insurance. The additional insurance can be led through this Institute but also through private companies under the same conditions. Payment for the health care for children, disabled people and families with low income, will be fully guaranteed, the minister added. There should be three categories of persons exempt from paying participation in prices for health services. A stricter control is envisaged
