BELGRADE, Sept 17 (Hina) - The president of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly, Lord Russel-Johnston, has said much remains to be done for Yugoslavia to meet all requirements for full membership in the Council of Europe.
Following a meeting with the speaker of the Yugoslav parliament lower house, Dragoljub Micunovic, Russel-Johnston said Yugoslavia's admission to the Council of Europe as a guest country was in itself a big step separating the country from its repressive past, which no one wanted to happen again. Lord Russel-Johnston also held a meeting with the Yugoslav parliament upper house speaker, Srdjo Bozovic, during which he stressed that relations between Serbia and Montenegro would not affect the procedure of Yugoslavia's admission to the Council of Europe.(hina) rml
