DUBROVNIK, Sept 10 (Hina) - Commenting on a suggestion by German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer that western Balkans be separated from Europe, Croatian Vice-Premier Zeljka Antunovic reiterated the government's stance Monday that
Croatia does not want a Balkan copy of the European Union. We have heard similar suggestions from the international level, but Croatia is an independent country which will know how to protect its interests and fight for its economic and political position in Europe, Antunovic told a news conference in Dubrovnik. Croatia is a Central European, Mediterranean country, but also a Balkan one, whose priority is cooperation with all its neighbours, but only within those frameworks which are in the interest of its policy, Antunovic stressed.(hina) lml
