ZAGREB, Aug 29 (Hina) - Croatian Vice-Premier Zeljka Antunovic told
reporters today the government informer all political and social
partners about the draft package of social measures.
Their positive suggestions will be included in the draft for social
reform for the end of this year and the entire next year.
Antunovic said government representatives managed to discuss and
exchange information about the proposed measures with social
partners and social and political groups from which they received
numerous suggestions which could improve the suggested measures.
The government measures are aimed at rendering the system more just
and make it possible for everyone who needs social care, to receive
it. The rights of those who used them contrary to social criteria
will be rescinded or significantly reduced, said Antunovic, adding
the entire system must be balanced and adjusted to the abilities of
tax payers.
The government, she continued, has received satisfactory feedback
from numerous groups, and expects to be receiving more by
tomorrow's session, especially from social partners who are
currently discussing the government measures at a Economic and
Social Council session.
every ministry has been mobilised to its fullest extent to
encompass the suggestions into the draft, thus avoiding any
possibility of error or unnecessary moves.
Stressing the government is trying to avoid any demagogy often
surfacing from political circles, and achieve maximum objectivity
in the realisation of the social measures, Antunovic said "demagogy
must not distract the government from fixing what it inherited, and
which is not bringing in satisfactory results".
One of direct suggestions to the government measures came in
yesterday from the Croatian Homeland Defence War Associations
Coordination, which expressed readiness to assist the government
in preparing the methodology for reviewing the rights of veterans,
Antunovic asserted.
They are those who insist that the review be done, and, together
with the government, help remove that which has not been solved in
Croatia so far, said Antunovic.
