ZAGREB, Aug 27 (Hina) - Police unions are satisfied the interior ministry has started talking with their representatives, Dubravko Jagic said on behalf of the unions on Monday, commenting on the cooperation the ministry and the unions
agreed on in implementing a care-providing programme for surplus police. A recent rationalisation of interior ministry staff saw 3,100 police made available to the government and 709 dismissed. Notices making the surplus staff available to the government were issued earlier this month, eliciting police protests and demands from unions for an urgent meeting with Interior Minister Sime Lucin. Jagic told Hina the unions would continue demanding compliance with work agreements and providing of the surplus police. At today's meeting, the unions and the interior ministry agreed a commission for complaints would notify the unions about new and processed complaints on a regular
