HAMBURG, Aug 17 (Hina) - A suspected Croatian war criminal was apprehended by German police on Thursday in the north-western town of Bremervoerde where he was working as a waiter. According to the Rotenburg police that arrested him,
this man has been wanted by Croatian authorities as he is suspected of involvement in 30 cases of murder in the second half of 1991 during the Homeland Defence War. At the time the suspect joined ethnic Serb terrorist units that launched attacks on civilian targets in the villages of Poljanak, Sertic Poljana, Korana and Smoljanac. Local villagers were taken to a concentration camp run by rebel Serbs in their stronghold of Knin, and 30 people were killed in detention. According to the Rotenburg police that arrested him, this man has
been wanted by Croatian authorities as he is suspected of
involvement in 30 cases of murder in the second half of 1991 during
the Homeland Defence War. At the time the suspect joined ethnic Serb
terrorist units that launched attacks on civilian targets in the
villages of Poljanak, Sertic Poljana, Korana and Smoljanac. Local
villagers were taken to a concentration camp run by rebel Serbs in
their stronghold of Knin, and 30 people were killed in detention.
According to a statement issued by the Rotenburg police there was an
international arrest warrant for the 42-year old man. The Croatian
government must present extradition documents within 40 days of the
arrest to the state court in Celle, which will decide whether or not
the man should be handed over to Zagreb.
The apprehension of this suspect was carried out at about 05.00 p.m.
Thursday by special police forces, read the statement.
During the arrest the man was unarmed and offered no resistance.
State prosecutor Herald Range congratulated to Rotenburg police on
