BELGRADE, Aug 17 (Hina) - Macedonian Foreign Minister Ilinka
Mitreva and Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica and Prime
Minister Dragisa Pesic discussed in Belgrade on Friday the
situation in the region, the recent agreement on resolving the
crisis in Macedonia, and bilateral relations.
Kostunica's office released a statement saying the Yugoslav
president made Macedonia's official aware of "an omission" in the
Ohrid agreement, by which a commission for minorities has been
established, which makes no mention of the Serb community in
Macedonia.
Mitreva said the omission would be corrected during the
parliamentary procedure of adoption of the agreement.
Kostunica said the preservation of the multiethnic character of all
Balkan states was a necessary precondition for the permanent
stabilisation of the region.
The Belgrade agency Beta quoted Kostunica's office as saying the
Yugoslav president cut his holiday short to meet Mitreva "due to the
gravity of the situation in Macedonia."
Mitreva and Pesic agreed the two countries should continue
developing cooperation and good-neighbourly relations.
