International authorities in Kosovo maintain the Macedonian
government's decision to close the border on Kosovo will affect
every strata in the province as well as local international staff.
Kosovo Albanian politicians have said the border closure is not
conducive to political process or peace in Macedonia. On Wednesday
they accused Macedonia's authorities, Prime Minister Ljubco
Georgijevski in particular, of dragging the country into war and
undermining efforts to find a peace solution for the southern
Balkan state.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Kosovo too has
voiced concern at the border closure, warning the decision will
restrict the movement of refugees whom it has advised to refrain
from returning to their homes in Macedonia before a political
agreement is reached.
