BELGRADE, Aug 14 (Hina) - Most parties in the Yugoslav-Serbian
multi-party, heterogeneous DOS coalition urged on Tuesday an
extraordinary session of the coalition's presidency about the
scandal caused by the murder of former Serbian secret service
official Momir Gavrilovic.
Speaking at a news conference in Belgrade today, Dusan Mihajlovic,
Serbian Interior Minister and one of DOS leaders, called for a
single policy and urged "the headquarters of the two most important
men in this country to stop trading shots."
Mihajlovic was alluding to the Democratic Party of Serbia, which is
headed by Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica, and the
Democratic Party, led by Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic, who
have lately entered a covert but clear political and personal
confrontation.
Mihajlovic said the events surrounding the murder of Momir
Gavrilovic were a "scandal" which jeopardised the results of the
democratic changes in Serbia and Yugoslavia.
Gavrilovic was killed on August 3 in front of his apartment, only a
few hours after he held talks with the associates of Yugoslav
President Kostunica on alleged connections between individuals in
the incumbent authorities and criminal circles.
