ZAGREB, July 11 (Hina) - With a majority vote parliament on Wednesday adopted the Agriculture Act, which determines the objectives and measures of agricultural development. Parliament also adopted a conclusion urging the government to
analyse, over the next nine months, the impact of the liberalisation of the farm produce market after Croatia's admission into the World Trade Organisation. Under the new Agriculture Act, the basic objectives are food safety and the promotion of agricultural production efficiency in view of increasing its competitiveness on the domestic and foreign markets. It is also necessary to improve the living standard of farmers, preserve natural resources, promote ecology-friendly production, and advance rural areas. Wednesday adopted the Agriculture Act, which determines the
objectives and measures of agricultural development.
Parliament also adopted a conclusion urging the government to
analyse, over the next nine months, the impact of the
liberalisation of the farm produce market after Croatia's
admission into the World Trade Organisation.
Under the new Agriculture Act, the basic objectives are food safety
and the promotion of agricultural production efficiency in view of
increasing its competitiveness on the domestic and foreign
markets.
It is also necessary to improve the living standard of farmers,
preserve natural resources, promote ecology-friendly production,
and advance rural areas.
These goals should be achieved through measures of the market,
structure and land policy.
Parliament today also appointed seven members to the Croatian
Radio/Television Steering Committee from the ranks of media,
economy, legal and financial experts.
Parliament postponed until late March 2002 the passing of a
decision on a Croatian economic belt in the Adriatic.
