SISAK, July 7 (Hina) - More than 460 firearms of all kinds were destroyed on Friday evening at a foundry in Sisak, 50km south-east of Zagreb, as part of a national programme aimed at raising the level of overall security through the
voluntary hand-over of illegally owned weapons, ammunition, and explosive device. Attending the event, which is also part of the Interior Ministry's Farewell to Arms campaign, were representatives of the Interior Ministry, the Sisak-Moslavina County police, foreign embassies, international missions, and numerous domestic and foreign media. Interior Ministry spokeswoman Zinka Bardic called on citizens who possess illegal weapons, ammunition, and explosives to hand them over before Feb. 22, either to the police or file a request for permits.
