MOSTAR MAYOR MOSTAR, June 26 (Hina) - President of the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) Ante Jelavic today publicly requested of Mostar Mayor Neven Tomic to step down from office, asserting the Mostar HDZ
committee lost confidence in him. Tomic is one of the rare HDZ officials who is openly supported by international community structures in Bosnia. "Tomic should be carrying out the HDZ policy, not his personal policy," Jelavic told a news conference. He added Tomic was not elected as Mostar mayor in elections, but was placed there by the party which, he said, does not endorse him any more. Jelavic also criticised actions by the international high representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, and the Bosnian Federation government. Among else, he stated there was no secret account with DM54 million in the Herzegovacka Banka, nor was there any laundering of money obtained from the sale of narcotics and weapons.(hina) lml sb
