Croats in this northern Yugoslav area and stressed that the city of Subotica had recently revoked a provision of its statute under which ethnic Croats had the right to use Croatian as a language of the ethnic minority. They also complained that they did not have their own schools or media in the Croatian language. Vojvodina Croats welcomed the recent joint statement of President Mesic and his Yugoslav counterpart, Vojislav Kostunica, and expressed wish that they would soon be able to exercise their rights in line with that document.(hina) ms
