ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic left Pula's Arena, the venue of the ceremonial opening of the 48th Pula Film Festival, prior to the start of the ceremony, so that there would be no delays in the schedule for
the beginning of the ceremony because of the intensified security controls of visitors entering the amphitheatre, Mesic's Office said in a statement. President Mesic was told from several sides that many people could not enter Arena because of his presence, namely security measures taken because of his security and safety, and that if check-ups of visitors by security guards continued to proceed with such tempo, the opening would have to be shifted for later. "Taking into consideration this information, President Mesic, who did not want to be a hindrance in any way to citizens who wanted to attend the ceremonial opening of the 48th film festival in Pula, left Arena,"
