SKOPJE, June 21 (Hina) - Negotiations of leaders of four Macedonian and ethnic Albanian biggest political parties with Macedonia's President Boris Trajkovski resumed on Thursday evening after the mediation of the European Union High
Representative for foreign policy and security, Javier Solana. Solana stopped in Skopje for a few hours on Thursday within his trip to the Near East. During his tree-hour-long stay on Skopje, the EU official held talks first with President Trajkovski and Premier Ljubco Georgievski and subsequently conducted separate meetings with leaders of SDS, Branko Crvenkovski, and of (ethnic Albanian) DPA party, Arben Xhafery. Prior to his departure from the Macedonian capital, Solana said he was optimistic for several reasons and expressed hope that the problems would be settled during the continuation of the negotiations.
