The Angevins ruled one part of Europe from the mid-13th to the end of
the 15th century. In the 14th century, when they were at the peak of
their power, the Angevin territories included the then Croat-
Hungarian kingdom, which is why Hungarian President Ferenc Madl is
the only other head of state to attend the exhibition.
Croatia and Hungary generally have a special status at this event
because the Croatian Culture Ministry and the Magyart organisation
have helped organise it.
Upon their arrival in Anvert, the capital of the province Maine-et-
Loire, President Mesic will meet his Hungarian counterpart, after
which they will make a tour of the exhibition and address
reporters.
The exhibition lasts from June 16 to September 16.
On the second day of his visit, Mesic will meet members of the
province's government and discuss regional cooperation with
parliamentary deputies and businessmen.
On Saturday afternoon, Mesic is to visit Paris and make a brief
visit to the Croatian embassy and later attend a dinner organised by
Duchess Sabran de Ponteves, who was born in Croatia and who has
established the foundation "Dubravka", which supports young
talented Croatians.
Mesic returns to Croatia late on Saturday evening.
