NUMBER OF TOURISTS IN CROATIA INCREASES IN RELATION TO 2000

ZAGREB, June 6 (Hina) - A total of 143,493 tourists, of whom 135,169 foreign and 8,324 domestic, are vacationing in seven Adriatic Counties and the city of Zagreb, namely 54 percent more than at the same time the year before. In relation to data from 1999, the increase amounts to 137 percent. The greatest number of tourists, namely 69,095 or 66 percent more than last year, are vacationing in Istria County, while 29,827 or 53 percent more than last year are staying ion Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Split-Dalmatia County follows with 17,353 or 123 percent more and Dubrovnik Neretva County with 10,739 registered guests (41 percent more). Zadar County marked an increase of 117 percent, namely 8,259 tourists are vacationing in the county. In tourist destination in Sibenik-Knin County , the number of guests amounts to 5,847, which is 70 percent more than the year before, while Lika-Senj County registered 1,527 tourists or 18 percent more than in 2000.
