ZAGREB/VIENNA, May 14 (Hina) - A mixed Croatian-Austrian commission on tourism convened in Vienna on Monday for a three-day conference on tourist business, cooperation among tourist organisations, in hotel construction and
tourism-related training. The Croatian delegation is led by Deputy Tourism Minister Veljko Ostojic and comprises representatives of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies, the National Tourist Office, and Croatia Airlines. The mixed commission, formed in the wake of a January 1998 Croatia-Austria tourist cooperation agreement, held its first session in Croatia that same year. Austria is fifth among Croatia's tourist-generating countries, with almost 512,000 guests registered in 2000, a 37-percent increase as against 1999. Last year Austrians accounted for 3.1 million overnights, 33 percent more than the year before.(hina) ha
