Monday Croatia wanted to help the solving of open political issues
and tragic conflicts in Macedonia through political talks.
I hope there will be enough political will on both sides, Macedonian
and Albanian, to solve all open issues, Racan said at a regular
press conference, condemning all forms of terrorism regardless of
the side it was coming from.
Commenting on a reporter's statement that Croatia was indirectly
implicated in the war in Macedonia because the country's Interior
Minister Ljuben Boskovski is a Croatian citizen, Racan said
"Croatia neither is nor wants to be implicated in the tragic
conflict in Macedonia but wants to help solve it as soon as
possible."
Asked whether an investigation of the Macedonian interior minister
was being conducted, Racan said a probe, which would determine how a
certain number of people received a Croatian passport and
citizenship, was in progress.
"I expect a Croatian Interior Ministry's report very soon, and
until then I do not want to comment on whether and in what way the
Macedonian minister was granted Croatian citizenship and what will
the consequences be", the Croatian Prime Minister told reporters.
Racan confirmed he would meet Slovene Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek
in Croatia on Saturday. I hope a progress will be achieved at the
meeting, a strong step forward in at least one of three serious
issues between the two countries -- Piran Bay, the nuclear power
plant of Krsko and the Ljubljanska Banka debt.
