FEDERATION ARMY DEPUTY COMMANDER ORDERS ALL CROAT TROOPS TO RETURN TO BARRACKS

SARAJEVO, May 31 (Hina) - Ivica Zeko, Deputy Commander of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina Army, order on Wednesday that all members of the Croat component of the joint Muslim-Croat Federation army return to their barracks. A statement the federal defence ministry sent Hina in Sarajevo said the order referred directly to the units of the Third Corps stationed in the central Bosnian town of Vitez, a rapid reaction brigade and the 4th Corps, based in the area of Orasje in northern Bosnia. This decision means the return of all Croat members of the Federation Army to their barracks in Travnik, Busovaca, Zepce and Jajce. Unit commanders in those parts of Bosnia-Herzegovina will register all 'self-disbanded' Croat troops and officers as well as professional soldiers who had previously renewed their contracts with the federal defence ministry thus demonstrating loyalty to the legitimate bodies

The deadline for the registration of all soldiers who wish to return to work is June 15. All contracts on professional engagement will be revised and become valid once approved by the defence ministry. Zeko's order marks the beginning of implementation of an agreement signed ten days ago in Sarajevo by Defence Minister Mijo Anic and a former commander of the First Guard Corps, Zlatan Mijo Jelic. According to the agreement, all 7,225 Croat soldiers and officers will be able to return to their units regardless of whether they have been loyal to the Federation government or supported the Croat National Congress, formed by the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ) of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
