PRISTINA, May 28 (Hina) - The chief commander of Macedonian
Albanian guerrillas, known as the National Liberation Army, said in
Monday's issue of the Pristina-based daily 'Bota Sot' his army
would continue fighting until the Macedonian army stopped
discriminating against Albanians.
Chief Commander Gezim Ostreni welcomed the fact that Albanian
military and political factors in Macedonia had adopted a single
platform, which guaranteed a better future for the Albanian people
and better prospects for Macedonia.
Speaking about Albanian demands, he said peace would not be
possible in Macedonia unless the Macedonian constitution was
changed, the university in Tetovo recognised and ONV
representatives included into possible talks on the resolution of
the crisis.
The ONV does not advocate the idea of a state within a state or
autonomy or secession, however, it does advocate a free and
democratic Macedonia as a joint state of Macedonian and Albanian
peoples, Ostreni said.
He said the current situation in the country was very dramatic due
to continual offensives of government forces against Albanian
settlements.
"Peace in Macedonia and its future depend on the conduct and
readiness of the Skopje government to recognise the legitimate
demands of the Albanian people," Ostreni told the daily.
