DALAI LAMA TO VISIT CROATIA IN OCTOBER

ZAGREB, May 27 (Hina) - Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader and statesman, will arrive in Zagreb in October, at the invitation of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jesuit Order in Zagreb. The visit of His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama was officially confirmed by a professor of that faculty, Father Mijo Nikic. According to unofficial reports, Dalai Lama will arrive in ZAGREB on 18 October and will stay two days in the Croatian capital. His arrival was confirmed by his official representative in Europe, Mr. Chime, whom we met in Zagreb, Father Nikic was quoted by the Croatian Television as saying on Saturday evening. This news was cited in an article of Sunday's issue of the Jutarnji List daily. In Croatia, Dalai Lama will promote human rights, inter-religious dialogue and care for refugees. Dalai Lama, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, has much to say for the Croatian public, the Catholic professor added. Since

Since last December intensive preparations have been under way for his arrival. Much job needed to be done, said a representative of the "Foundation Home for Peace and Non-Violence" society, Svebor Kranjc, in Zagreb. This society was established by Nives Rebernak, who met Dalai Lama several times. He blessed and supported Rebernak's efforts to offer assistance to refugees from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia who sought shelter in the Netherlands. (hina) ms
