KARADZIC REFUTES WAR CRIMES

BELGRADE, May 23 (Hina) - Belgrade-based Nedjeljni Telegraf weekly on Wednesday published a letter former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic allegedly wrote to the head of the Serb Orthodox Church (SPC) refuting that Bosnian Serbs committed war crimes. Patriarch Paul's Office, however, said it had "no knowledge of such a letter." In the alleged letter, Karadzic claims he is reacting to a statement made by the chairwoman of the European Parliament's commission on relations with Southeast Europe, Doris Pack, to the effect that the SPC leadership had blessed Karadzic every time he had committed a massacre. Pack also accused the SPC of covering up Karadzic's crimes.
