CRO MPS BACK COE DEVELOPMENT BANK'S LOANS FOR WAR-HIT AREAS

ZAGREB, May 25 (Hina) - All the parliamentary benches on Friday supported a motion about the ratification of two agreements between Croatia and the Development Bank of the Council of Europe on loans, worth 330.68 million kuna, for financing refugee returns and the reconstruction of the war-hit areas. A loan worth 232 million kuna will be used for the reconstruction of 1,153 war-damaged houses for displaced persons and refugees who are willing to come back to their pre-war places of residence and for the purchase of 680 flats or houses for 2,240 persons who are currently occupying homes of refugees or displaced persons. In addition, construction material will be ensured for tenants who are living in homes of displaced persons or refugees. Thus, those tenants will be able to build their own houses either on their land or on the state-owned land. Another loan, worth 98.6 million kuna will be used for the reconstruction of 41 schools in eight war-stricken counties. Thus, 8,000 pupils will be able to attend classes in adequate facilities in those areas. This project will also create 375 new jobs in the said areas. (hina) ms
