ZAGREB, May 24 (Hina) - The government was presented on Thursday a report on the transactions and financial situation of the Vjesnik media company which was drafted by the company's management, the government's public relations said.
The company's basic capital will be reduced from 195.53 million (approx. $23 million) to 146,647,500 kuna (approx. $17.3 million) in order to cover losses incurred in the past. The government adopted a set of measures for the financial consolidation of the company whereby it will take on Vjesnik's unpaid 129,778,213 kuna (approx. $15.3 million) debt to banks, and an additional 19,878,777 (approx. $2.3 million) in claims for Value Added Tax. By taking on the debt, the state will assume controlling interest in the company. The government also adopted a decision on writing off state budget claims towards Croatian Radio-Television for VAT in the amount of 221,566,619 kuna (approx. $26
