ZADAR, April 27 (Hina) - Parliament speakers of the Adriatic-Ionic
Initiative members on Friday unanimously adopted conclusions of
the first Initiative meeting held in Zadar.
The conclusions underline that the seven member-countries would
develop inter-parliamentary cooperation, particularly in
economy, maritime affairs, transport and communications,
environment protection, science and culture. They will actively
oppose all forms of international crime.
The participants slammed illegal crossings of borders and
supported their governments in the fight against all forms of
organised crime, money laundering, narcotics and weapons
smuggling, and all forms of terrorism. The parliamentarians warned
the environment should be protected to preserve natural riches and
the beauty of areas included by the Initiative.
The conclusions also expressed convictions the Adriatic-Ionic
Initiative would grow into one of the basis of stabilisation and
integration policy of the EU in this part of Europe.
This, first, meeting was attended by seven delegations -- Albania,
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Yugoslavia and
Croatia, as well as the Ambassador of the European commission, Per
Vinther and Secretary-General of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary
Conference, Juergen Schoening.

addressed a news conference voicing satisfaction with the success

during the session.
We will ask of our governments to have the project discussed in a
serious matter at the next such meeting, Tomcic said.
