ZAGREB, May 22 (Hina) - Representatives of the Forum of Vojvodina Croat Associations on Tuesday requested a Croatian parliamentary sub-committee for the Croat minority to see that their mother country provide them with diplomatic and
logistic assistance, which they say is the key to the survival of Croats living in Vojvodina and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The Forum president Andrija Kopilovic said the Yugoslav parliament would soon adopt a law on minorities and the Croat minority wanted to know whether the Croatian diplomacy would support it and help it stay in Yugoslavia. Kopilovic recalled that the Yugoslav authorities would soon introduce religion classes in schools and complained that there were no textbooks in Croatian. ZAGREB, May 22 (Hina) - Representatives of the Forum of Vojvodina
Croat Associations on Tuesday requested a Croatian parliamentary
sub-committee for the Croat minority to see that their mother
country provide them with diplomatic and logistic assistance,
which they say is the key to the survival of Croats living in
Vojvodina and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
The Forum president Andrija Kopilovic said the Yugoslav parliament
would soon adopt a law on minorities and the Croat minority wanted
to know whether the Croatian diplomacy would support it and help it
stay in Yugoslavia.
Kopilovic recalled that the Yugoslav authorities would soon
introduce religion classes in schools and complained that there
were no textbooks in Croatian.
According to Kopilovic, Vojvodina Croats cannot survive only on
Croatia's promises of help and they will parish without their own
schools and media.
Members of the Sub-Committee told the Vojvodina Croat
representatives that "the wishes of Croats living outside the
homeland mostly exceed the potential of their mother country."
