ZAGREB, May 15 (Hina) - Croatia's Deputy Agriculture and Forestry
Minister Tomislav Ledic met Yugoslav Agriculture Minister Sasa
Vitosevic at an international agricultural fair in Novi Sad on
Tuesday, the Croatian Agriculture and Forestry Ministry said in a
statement.
The two officials discussed the improvement of trade relations and
the signing of a free trade agreement, cooperation in the food
industry and finalising of products, the collaboration of chambers
of commerce, the privatisation of state-owned farming land and
issues related to farming plots in border areas owned by citizens of
the other country.
The meeting also focused on the return Croatia's Lippizaner horses
from Yugoslavia to the State Lippizaner Horse-Farm in Djakovo and
the resolution of disputes related to the management of forests and
hunting-grounds in border areas. Vitosevic agreed to the return of
Croatia's Lippizaner horses and voiced readiness to negotiate
about hunting-grounds and border forests and farming land.
The two ministers also talked about seed trade, the recognition of
seed types, the harmonisation of production and trade norms, the
cooperation of border inspections for the protection of plants and
the initiating of a procedure for signing an agreement on
cooperation of veterinary services.
The Croatian ministry stresses that the main problem hampering
trade with Yugoslavia is the fact that Yugoslavia is not a member of
international organisations and does not have certificates on
product safety. Vitosevic expressed readiness to consider
Croatia's models and their possible adoption.
