MOSTAR, May 3 (Hina) - Croat Americans have called on President
George Bush to stop a campaign of intimidation, freedom
suppression, coercion and vilification they say Bosnian Croat
Catholics suffer at the hands of certain left-wing international
officials in Bosnia.
They have also urged legally elected Bosnian Croat officials to
take their places in state bodies of authority.
The Croat American Association (CAA) forwarded a letter to the U.S.
President and called on the Croat community in the U.S., especially
parish priests in Croat Roman Catholic churches, their members, and
every Croat American organisation, to sign a copy of the letter to
President Bush.
The letter, which was delivered to Hina in Mostar on Thursday, among
else reads that Croats in Bosnia are sacrificed in the name of the
Dayton peace accords by left-wing officials who stayed in the State
Department after Richard Holbrooke, and by European leftists
trying to save Holbrooke's unsuccessful Dayton draft.
The CAA says it can only conclude that a campaign of coercion is
being waged against Bosnian Croat Catholics by the international
community's High Representative in Bosnia, Wolfgang Petritsch, and
U.S. diplomats close to Holbrooke who are active in international
organisations, including Robert Barry and Jacques Klein.
Said campaign and the Croats' frequent complaints about the U.S.
Ambassador to Bosnia, Thomas Miller, do not serve the interests of
the U.S. government or contribute to peace, the letter read.
The CAA also calls on elected Croat officials to take their places
in bodies of authority as has been suggested by the European
Initiative for Stability.
