ELECTORAL RULES FOR BOSNIA WEREN'T BEST SOLUTION - DORIS PACK

SARAJEVO, April 19 (Hina) - The electoral rules and regulations used in Bosnia's November elections were not the best solution, a European Parliament official conceded in Sarajevo on Thursday. However, they should not have been used by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party as an excuse to leave legal bodies of authority, said Doris Pack, chairwoman of the European Parliament committee on foreign affairs, security and defence. Talking to reporters after meeting Zivko Radisic, the chairman of Bosnia's collective, three-men Presidency, Pack said the changed electoral rules had probably provided room for radical political factors. She added the international community would like to correct that mistake by incorporating in a permanent electoral law for Bosnia solutions which will not be ambiguous. The HDZ decision to leave the bodies of authority over discontent with the changed rules is entirely unacceptable, as is the party's call to Croats to leave the armed forces of Bosnia's Croat-Muslim federation, Pack said.
